Stacker Reclaimer Fabrication & Assembly – Heavy Industrial Equipment
Chinook Welding Ltd. contributed to the fabrication, assembly, and testing of a large-scale stacker reclaimer, a critical piece of heavy industrial equipment used in bulk material handling operations. The project was completed successfully on schedule and within budget, despite operational challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our team was involved throughout key phases of the build, performing structural welding and fabrication on complex components using a range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Work was executed using advanced welding procedures such as FCAW, MCAW, SMAW, and GMAW, ensuring strength, durability, and performance across all assemblies.
In addition to shop fabrication, Chinook Welding supported structural field work using mobile welding trucks, assisting with final assembly and adjustments prior to transport. The completed unit was then prepared for shipment by barge to North Vancouver, BC, requiring precise coordination and quality control throughout the build process.
Our scope also included performing major crack repairs on pressure vessels, heavy machinery, and critical structural components, restoring integrity to high-stress equipment and ensuring safe operation under demanding industrial conditions.
